What is Dog TPLO Surgery?
One of our primary orthopedic surgeries here in Melbourne, FL is dog TPLO surgery. TPLO stands for Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy, and the procedure is designed to stabilize the knee joint following a cruciate ligament injury by modifying the structure of the tibia bone. During the surgery, the tibia is “leveled” by cutting and rotating a segment of bone to reduce the angle of the tibia slope. Once this is done, we secure the joint using special locking plates and screws.
