Dr Omar González

Omar González DVM, MS, DACVS-SA

Dr. Omar González was born and raised on the island of Puerto Rico. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Puerto Rico in Veterinary Technology. He attended Tuskegee University, where he obtained his DVM degree and graduated with the highest honor, summa cum laude, in 2013.

After graduation, he completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Auburn University. He then attended Kansas State University, where he received his surgical residency training and at the same time, he obtained his Master of Science degree. Dr.González earned diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons – Small Animal in 2020.

He moved to Arizona to join Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine after his surgical residency, where he served as one of the small animal faculty surgeons for 4 years and as a staff surgeon at Southwest Veterinary Surgical Service for 2 years. He then relocated to Florida to embark on a new journey.

Dr. González enjoys all aspects of veterinary surgery, particularly orthopedic surgery, wound repair, and reconstruction. He is a member of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities, cycling, and spending quality time with his wife, son, and two dogs, Lily and Mariana.
